Day 1....sort of

Yay!!  Tomorrow's the day!!  Weeks of provisioning, meal planning, engine maintenance, charting routes, and building excitement have finally brought us to our day of departure.  However, being 100% prepared to leave the dock does not always mean we actually leave the dock.  With 40+mph wind gusts predicted along our route for the next few days, and taking the advice of our seasoned boating friends here, we came to the unanimous decision to hold tight for another week.  Wisdom takes precedence over risking it when it comes to safety on the water.  It's disappointing but they say that the most dangerous thing to have on a boat is a calendar.

After an amazing going away party last night given by our wonderful friends here, today was the day we had set to begin doing the Great American Loop.

This delay will put us behind by a week.  We had left ourselves 4 weeks as a buffer in case situations like this came up.  Lee has timed our arrival at the first lock on the Erie Canal when it opens on May 18.

So, I'm not sure if we can actually count today as Day 1.😕
Sandy Point is one of our planned anchorages.  Don't think we'd sleep much with those winds.

What a beautiful plate!  And a trail of kisses down the table
